Hello, I think they are incompatible. :-( Shimano STEPS FC-E8000 has a Q factor of 177mm, and this one with a power meter has a Q factor of 146mm. That is, it is narrower. When mounted on a 105 R7000 bike with a power meter, pedaling will be very close to or hang (touch) the frame.

Of course, as with all Shimano hollowtech systems, so it works on everything except very old cranksets (15 years) and new xtr cranksets

I think the crank may be hooking the frame. Therefore, you will not be able to pedal. Even if you don´t touch the frame, the right and left cranks will be at different distances from the frame. Hi, yes, I mounted it on 105 5800 (clearly aesthetically they are not the same), the meter is compatible with all Bluetooth smart and ANT devices (more or less all cycle computers from the last 10 years). If it can connect the speed and cadence sensors, the meter will almost certainly be compatible too

Hollowtech II cranks all the way from Claris and Sora through 105 to Dure Ace, you can attach and use any Hollowtech II left crank arm with a powermeter, except if the sora crank arm uses the octalink r350 variant. Then it would not be compatible. If you aren’t able to discern this, speak to someone at your local bike shop.

I have checked on line for compatablity and according to the compatibility reference the stages crank arm is compatible. I would assume that if this bike computer is relatively new the stages would definitely sync and provide power information. I have a Garmin 500 which was one of the first Garmin computers out there and it works seamlessly.

Seeing if the power correlated to the trainers out put and testing if the cadence worked without the magnet mounted to the crank arm. It Does I must say the crank works well and the power is also accurate.I am very happy with this purchase.

Every time you turn on the meter you have to put the cranks perpendicular and select "calibrate" on the Garmin. It´s very simple.

All modern Shimano cranksets are compatible with each other. So I´ve installed this one on my bicycle with Shimano Sora 3503 crankset. You even can install it on MTB. Please, do not forget about cranks length. The only problem you can faced with is that: very old Shimano Tiagra cranksets were build for using with JIS bottom bracket. For example even Shimano Dura-Ace very old cranksets were build for JIS bottom bracket: FC-7410
