I have mounted this tire at the front and at the rear the rear specific from the same range. The front tire provides absolute control on dry and rocky terrain, even if, once the limit is reached, it does not warn before "going". As for the rear, at first glance it has a thick lug that is very reminiscent of an Enduro tire, its weight is also significant for use on xc/marathon bikes, in my case both tires have been mounted on a 2019 Scott Spark. on the first few rides we get that feeling of drag that just disappears, incredible grip in corners and on rocks. It is not the lightest set of tires without a doubt, but it is one of the most reliable in terms of resistance to punctures, dry traction, lateral detachment without forgetting its finish and appearance of the most "Racing".

Good covers where they admit all types of terrain, very suitable for dry and compact terrain. They also excel in humid areas. You just have to be very fine in muddy areas, but it defends itself well. Very versatile.

XC or Trail model?

Is the 29x2.40 tire the Scorpion XC M model, therefore with a lighter 120 TPI casing or the Pirelli Scorpion Trail with a 60 TPI casing and therefore heavier? in the description there is only the one for 29x2.20 and in the photo there is a generic door with only MTB indicated which does not identify the tire model.

This tire is 60 TPI in all its versions, the model is Scorpion Trail M, recommended as a front tire, 100% recommended, regards. The 29x2.20 weighs 720 gr. ref. 3704200 and the 29x2.40 weighs 825 gr, ref. 3704900.
